The Friends of the Sámi Art

The Friends of the Sámi Art is an association which aims at bringing Sámi art to the attention of the public. The association has produced the multimedia work Biekka Eallin, co-produced the TV programme Olbmot Dolggit, and made the CD-ROM Govadas and the textbook Biekka Eallin on Sámi visual arts in 1996 - 1998. In autumn 1998, the Friends of Sámi Art set out to create a series of cultural events in the village of Inari during the polar night. The association is now responsible for arranging the events that deal with the visual culture of indigenous peoples.

The Friends of Sámi Art consists of Sámi members who are not artists themselves,
but who wish to make a name for Sámi art and to promote its research, education and display.

Association´s Chairperson is Sari Valkonen and Anni Näkkäläjärvi is the Secretary.

The Director of the festival is Suvi West, the artistic director of the festival is Jorma Lehtola and the Festival producer is Eija Korhonen.
